MCPPLC is the first Company to engage in coconut plantation in the dry zone. Coconut is traditionally grown in the coconut triangle where the weather conditions are suitable for coconut plantation. The dry zone does not get sufficient rainfall and the higher temperature that prevails is not friendly towards coconut cultivation. However, this project was initiated on the understanding that water would be provided from Mahaweli for us to meet the requirements. Our plantation is situated in irrigable uplands which are not suitable for paddy cultivation.
